September 6th, 2008  Volunteer Information Session

Volunteers are very important people at the Humane League of Lancaster County. As a private, non-profit organization, we rely on the assistance of caring and hard-working volunteers in all of our programs. To become a volunteer, you must attend a 45-minute *Information Session, describing all the various opportunities available for helping our homeless animals.

Please RSVP with your name and phone number to Miranda Troccoli or call 717-393-6551 ext. 234

*Please note, you must be 16yrs old to volunteer alone.  Children 12yrs old to 15yrs old may volunteer but must be accompanied by an adult or guardian at all times.  Please contact Miranda Troccoli for ways that younger children can become involved!

September 13th, 2008  Here Comes The Bride...**

Come out and join us for a day of Furry Fun at the Overlook Dog Park.*

A special doggie wedding ceremony will be held at Noon for those puppies in love, with Dr. Jeff Steed reciting the vows. After the ceremony all newly weds will get to pawsonalize their wedding certificate by stamping their paws on them! The cost of getting your dog married is just a $5 donation per dog. $10 per couple of course.*

You do not have to have a dog to come to the event, you can just come and watch the fun and help us raise money for a great cause in the meantime.  There will be wedding favors and tasty treats as well as a most beautiful bride, most handsome groom, and cutest newlywed couple costume contest with great prizes donated by local businesses! Please come out, play, and help raise money for the Humane Leauge all in a dog's day of work!

*Just be sure to bring your updated vaccination records if you want to enter the dog parks.

*Same sex marriages are allowed.

**This event has been specially organized and arranged by Humane League supporter and Tailwagger Trotter, Angela Mast.  Visit her firstgiving homepage for more information on this special event and to support her as she and her pack, Spurrier's Furry Friends, raise money for the Humane League!

September 20th, 2008   Awareness Day

Join the Humane League and other animal welfare

organizations as we join together to advocate for the thousands of dogs that spend their lives in puppy mills.  This event has been going strong for five

years and the only thing that has changed for the puppy mill dogs are the names of the people who

are supposed to be protecting them.  Awareness

Day 2008 will feature Ann Marie Lucas, Humane Police Officer from the hit show "Animal Cops," free food, gifts, and various rescue organizations with adoptable animals.  Don't miss this important day!  For more information, visit the Awareness Day website at http://www.awarenessday.org/events.html.
